| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: M.M. Dickie. New Mutants: 6. The recessive neurological mutation, torpid (td), reported in MNL 32: 45, 1965, was found to be linked with d with 12.3% recombination. Additional testing with tk and du has been undertaken. F2 repulsion data for tk and td give evidence of 23.75% recombination (N = 642, + + 356, tk + 135, + t d 146, tk td 5). In crosses with du (+/td x du/+) of the 92 classified 77 were + and 15 were abnormal in behavior. This suggests that torpid may be an allele of du. Although the behavior of the two differs to some extent, and linkage data are not entirely corroborative, it is suggested that torpid be considered an allele of ducky and the symbol changed to dutd. |
