Protein Coding Gene : Prap1 proline-rich acidic protein 1

Primary Identifier  MGI:893573 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  7 NCBI Gene Number  22264
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables triglyceride binding activity. Involved in several processes, including cellular response to X-ray; positive regulation of intestinal lipid absorption; and positive regulation of lipid transport. Located in endoplasmic reticulum and extracellular region. Is expressed in several structures, including female reproductive system; intestine; and lower jaw. Orthologous to human PRAP1 (proline rich acidic protein 1).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit an increased serum IgG2a response to ovalbumin challenge, increased serum immunoglobulin and cytokine levels, altered microbiota in the small intestine, and increased mortality and enterocyte apoptosis in response to ionizing radiation.
