ncRNA Gene : Malat1 metastasis associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (non-coding RNA)

Primary Identifier  MGI:1919539 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  19 NCBI Gene Number  72289
Mgi Type  lncRNA gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Acts upstream of or within positive regulation of myoblast proliferation; regulation of alternative mRNA splicing, via spliceosome; and regulation of synapse organization. Located in nuclear speck. Is active in basal dendrite. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; central nervous system; hemolymphoid system gland; inner ear; and muscle tissue. Orthologous to human MALAT1 (metastasis associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit increased susceptibility to ischemic brain injury with increased cerebral infarction size, worse neurological scores and sensorimotor dysfunction, and increased expression of proapoptotic and proinflammatory factors in brain than wild-type controls.
