Protein Coding Gene : Tnfrsf21 tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily, member 21

Primary Identifier  MGI:2151075 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  17 NCBI Gene Number  94185
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Involved in several processes, including negative regulation of cytokine production; negative regulation of lymphocyte proliferation; and oligodendrocyte apoptotic process. Located in axon and plasma membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including lip; lung; metanephros; nervous system; and nose. Orthologous to human TNFRSF21 (TNF receptor superfamily member 21).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit impaired T cell differentiation and an enhanced Th2 response. Mice homozygous for a different knock-out allele show increased CD4+ T cell proliferation and Th2 cytokine production, and enhanced B cell proliferation, survival, and humoral responses.
