Protein Coding Gene : Edaradd EDAR associated via death domain

Primary Identifier  MGI:1931001 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  13 NCBI Gene Number  171211
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Acts upstream of or within hair follicle development; odontogenesis of dentin-containing tooth; and trachea gland development. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; metanephros; naris; skin; and ureter. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in ectodermal dysplasia 11A and ectodermal dysplasia 11B. Orthologous to human EDARADD (EDAR associated via death domain).
PHENOTYPE: Spontaneous mutations may lead to a kinked tail, reduced fertility, abnormal respiration and sparse hair. Chemically-induced mutants may show developmental defects in teeth, hair and ectoderm-derived glands, reduced viability and fertility, respiratory disorders, and lipid, myelin and brain defects.
