| abstractText | Research news: 1) New mutants. d) Unbalanced, provisional symbol ub. Some animals in the CBA/H stock were noticed to have a balance defect similar to that of pallid or muted animals, with head-tilting and lack of postural reflexes. This defect was found to be due to an autosomal recessive gene for which the name and symbol above are proposed. The gene has complete penetrance and the otoliths are always lacking from both ears while the remainder of the inner ear is normal. Allelism tests with pa, mu and Tw were negative.
