Protein Coding Gene : Flt3l FMS-like tyrosine kinase 3 ligand

Primary Identifier  MGI:95560 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  7 NCBI Gene Number  14256
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.0.0)

Enables receptor tyrosine kinase binding activity. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including positive regulation of cell population proliferation; positive regulation of nitrogen compound metabolic process; and regulation of leukocyte activation. Located in external side of plasma membrane and extracellular space. Is expressed in several structures, including central nervous system; genitourinary system; hemolymphoid system gland; retina; and yolk sac. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in colon carcinoma; glioblastoma; and high grade glioma. Orthologous to human FLT3LG (fms related receptor tyrosine kinase 3 ligand).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele are viable, fertile and healthy but exhibit reduced cellularity in a number of hematopoietic tissues, reduced numbers of myeloid and lymphoid progenitors in the bone marrow, and reduced numbers of dendritic cells and natural killer cells in the lymphoid organs.
