Protein Coding Gene : Pkn1 protein kinase N1

Primary Identifier  MGI:108022 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  8 NCBI Gene Number  320795
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables protein kinase activity. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including negative regulation of B cell proliferation; regulation of germinal center formation; and spleen development. Located in cytoplasmic vesicle. Is expressed in several structures, including brown fat; genitourinary system; gut; nervous system; and vascular system. Orthologous to human PKN1 (protein kinase N1).
PHENOTYPE: Homozygotes for a null allele show spontaneous germinal center formation and autoantibody production and develop glomerulonephritis. Homozygotes for a different null allele have mild systolic and diastolic dysfunction, and show increased myocardial infarction size after ischemia-reperfusion injury. [provided by MGI curators]
