abstractText | Full text of Mouse Genome contribution: Research News: 1. Trembler (Tr) and Trembler-J (TrJ) molecular genetics: Both Tr and TrJ are found to have point mutations in regions coding for transmembrane domains of the peripheral myelin protein-22 (PMP-22) gene. While the Tr mutation substitutes an aspartic acid residue for a glycine, the TrJ mutation substitutes a proline for a leucine residue (1, 2). Instead of using vestigeal-tail, vt, as a marker (3) this new advance enables us to use, in collaboration with Drs. Ueli Suter and Eric Shooter at Stanford, PCR amplication of DNA from tail clippings for genotyping these animals: double band, single band and no band in +/+, Tr/+ and Tr/Tr, respectively. |
