description  The construct was injected into embryos generated by crossing an FVB/N mouse to a (C57BL/6 x BALB/c)F1 mouse. Glial cells in transgenic mice are specifically susceptible to infection by replication-competent ALV splice acceptor (RCAS) retroviral vectors.
molecularNote  The transgene consists of the astrocyte-specific human glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) promoter, TVA gene (avian cell surface receptor), and a portion of the mouse protamine (Prm1) gene which supplies intronic sequence and a polyadenylation site. The transgene expresses the quail TVA for subgroup A avian leukosis viruses.
