Protein Coding Gene : Ppme1 protein phosphatase methylesterase 1

Primary Identifier  MGI:1919840 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  7 NCBI Gene Number  72590
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables lncRNA binding activity. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; clavicle; ganglia; lower urinary tract; and nasal cavity epithelium. Orthologous to human PPME1 (protein phosphatase methylesterase 1).
PHENOTYPE: Targeted disruption of this gene causes virtual loss of the demethylated form of phosphoprotein phosphatase 2A in the nervous system and peripheral tissues. Homozygous null mice fail to initiate normal breathing or suckling behavior and die within the first day of life. [provided by MGI curators]
