Protein Domain : Basic leucine zipper transcriptional factor ATF-like 2

Primary Identifier  IPR029857 Type  Family
Short Name  BATF2
description  Basic leucine zipper transcriptional factor ATF-like 2 (BATF2, also known as SARI) belongs to the activator protein 1 (AP-1) family of transcription factors. BATF2 selectively suppresses CYR61/CCN1 transcription and hence blocks the downstream cell proliferation signals produced by CYR61. It inhibits CYR61-induced anchorage-independent growth and invasion in several cancer types, such as breast cancer, malignant glioma and metastatic melanoma []. BATF2 is also induced by cytokines in response to infection acting as an important positive transcriptional regulator in the immune system [, ].
