Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.3.0) Enables guanyl-nucleotide exchange factor activity and small GTPase binding activity. Involved in several processes, including dendritic spine morphogenesis; marginal zone B cell differentiation; and regulation of postsynapse assembly. Located in dendritic spine. Is active in glutamatergic synapse and postsynapse. Is expressed in several structures, including central nervous system; endocrine gland; retina; thymus primordium; and trigeminal nerve. Orthologous to human DOCK10 (dedicator of cytokinesis 10). PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit a reduction of B cell numbers in secondary lymphoid organs. Follicular B cells show membrane CD23 overexpression. Homozygous KO also leads to a thinner spleen marginal zone B cell region and a decreased thymic CD8+ T cell percentage.
