Protein Coding Gene : Zdhhc11 zinc finger, DHHC domain containing 11

Primary Identifier  MGI:1918414 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  13 NCBI Gene Number  71164
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables protein-cysteine S-palmitoyltransferase activity. Involved in antiviral innate immune response and positive regulation of defense response to virus by host. Located in endosome membrane. Is expressed in brain; male reproductive gland or organ; metanephros; and submandibular gland. Orthologous to several human genes including ZDHHC11B (zinc finger DHHC-type containing 11B).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a null allele exhibit reduced circulating IL6 levels in response to LPS and D-galactosamine or HSV-1. Mice homozygous for a different null allele exhibit normal male fertility. [provided by MGI curators]
