Protein Coding Gene : Rpl27a ribosomal protein L27A

Primary Identifier  MGI:1347076 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  7 NCBI Gene Number  26451
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.0.0)

A structural constituent of ribosome. Acts upstream of or within translation. Located in cytosolic ribosome. Part of cytosolic large ribosomal subunit. Is active in synapse. Is expressed in endolymphatic appendage and head. Orthologous to human RPL27A (ribosomal protein L27a).
PHENOTYPE: Homozygotes for an ENU-induced allele die before E7.5. Heterozygotes show partial postnatal lethality, retarded growth, cerebellar ataxia, small cerebella, spleens and thymi, hyperpigmentation of the tail, feet, ears and genital areas, pancytopenia, anemia, and high sensitivity to gamma-irradiation.
