Protein Coding Gene : Mga MAX gene associated

Primary Identifier  MGI:1352483 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  2 NCBI Gene Number  29808
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables DNA-binding transcription activator activity, RNA polymerase II-specific and RNA polymerase II transcription regulatory region sequence-specific DNA binding activity. Involved in positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Acts upstream of or within cellular response to leukemia inhibitory factor. Part of transcription regulator complex. Is expressed in several structures, including genitourinary system; gut; heart; nervous system; and sensory organ. Orthologous to human MGA (MAX dimerization protein MGA).
PHENOTYPE: Embryos homozygous for a gene trap allele die shortly after implantation due to defective development of the inner cell mass (ICM) and the epiblast. ICM derivatives fail to develop past E4.5 and show increased apoptosis but no change in cell proliferation. [provided by MGI curators]
