Protein Coding Gene : Cetn2 centrin 2

Primary Identifier  MGI:1347085 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  X NCBI Gene Number  26370
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.0.0)

Enables G-protein beta/gamma-subunit complex binding activity; heterotrimeric G-protein binding activity; and microtubule binding activity. Involved in spermatogenesis. Located in several cellular components, including 9+2 motile cilium; microtubule organizing center; and photoreceptor connecting cilium. Is expressed in 4th ventricle lateral recess; choroid plexus; and lateral ventricle choroid plexus. Orthologous to human CETN2 (centrin 2).
PHENOTYPE: Males hemizygous for a null allele show partial prenatal lethality, dysosmia due to impaired ciliary transport of olfactory signaling proteins, olfactory cilia loss, defective basal body positioning, and hydrocephalus caused by disrupted ependymal cilia planar cell polarity and impaired CSF flow.
