Protein Coding Gene : Cxadr coxsackie virus and adenovirus receptor

Primary Identifier  MGI:1201679 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  16 NCBI Gene Number  13052
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables beta-catenin binding activity and connexin binding activity. Involved in several processes, including AV node cell-bundle of His cell adhesion involved in cell communication; germ cell migration; and regulation of synaptic vesicle endocytosis. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including cardiac muscle cell development; cell-cell junction organization; and negative regulation of cardiac muscle cell proliferation. Located in several cellular components, including basolateral plasma membrane; bicellular tight junction; and intercalated disc. Is active in GABA-ergic synapse; glutamatergic synapse; and presynaptic membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; central nervous system; early conceptus; genitourinary system; and sensory organ. Orthologous to human CXADR (CXADR Ig-like cell adhesion molecule).
PHENOTYPE: Homozygous null mice display embryonic lethality with focal cardiomyocyte apoptosis and extensive thoracic hemorrhaging. [provided by MGI curators]
