Protein Coding Gene : Sumo2 small ubiquitin-like modifier 2

Primary Identifier  MGI:2158813 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  11 NCBI Gene Number  170930
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables SUMO transferase activity. Acts upstream of or within positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II and protein sumoylation. Is active in several cellular components, including hippocampal mossy fiber to CA3 synapse; postsynaptic cytosol; and presynaptic cytosol. Is expressed in several structures, including branchial arch; central nervous system; early conceptus; eye; and heart. Orthologous to human SUMO2 (small ubiquitin like modifier 2).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a null allele display severe embryonic growth retardation and die at approximately embryonic day E10.5. [provided by MGI curators]
