Primary Identifier | MGI:1339973 | Organism | mouse, laboratory |
Chromosome | 9 | NCBI Gene Number | 16201 |
Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0) Predicted to enable enzyme binding activity; nucleic acid binding activity; and virus receptor activity. Involved in negative regulation of translation and negative regulation of viral genome replication. Located in cytoplasm and nucleus. Is expressed in several structures, including central nervous system; genitourinary system; limb; olfactory epithelium; and retina. Orthologous to human ILF3 (interleukin enhancer binding factor 3). PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele are born small and weak, show tachypnea and multi-organ apoptosis, and die neonatally due to neuromuscular respiratory failure. The diaphragm and other skeletal muscles show disorganization and paucity of myofibers, myocyte degeneration and elevated apoptosis. [provided by MGI curators] |
