Protein Coding Gene : Nnat neuronatin

Primary Identifier  MGI:104716 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  2 NCBI Gene Number  18111
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Acts upstream of or within positive regulation of insulin secretion and response to glucose. Located in cytoplasm. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; central nervous system; embryo mesenchyme; genitourinary system; and sensory organ. Orthologous to human NNAT (neuronatin).
PHENOTYPE: Homozygous mice for a targeted mutation do not exhibit a detected mutant phenotype. Heterozygous mice with a paternally inherited null allele show impaired glucose-stimulated insulin secretion with islets showing a defect in insulin storage. [provided by MGI curators]
