Protein Coding Gene : Pld3 phospholipase D family member 3

Primary Identifier  MGI:1333782 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  7 NCBI Gene Number  18807
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables single-stranded DNA 5'-3' DNA exonuclease activity. Involved in regulation of cytokine production involved in inflammatory response. Located in late endosome membrane and lysosomal membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; cardiovascular system; genitourinary system; nervous system; and sensory organ. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in spinocerebellar ataxia 46. Orthologous to human PLD3 (phospholipase D family member 3).
PHENOTYPE: Homozygous knockout alters the response of macrophages to single-stranded oligodeoxynucleic acids (ODNs). The enzyme digests unphosphorylated 5' ends of single-stranded ODNs without secondary structure in endolysosomes. [provided by MGI curators]
