Protein Coding Gene : Adora2b adenosine A2b receptor

Primary Identifier  MGI:99403 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  11 NCBI Gene Number  11541
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables G protein-coupled adenosine receptor activity. Involved in G protein-coupled adenosine receptor signaling pathway and presynaptic modulation of chemical synaptic transmission. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including positive regulation of chronic inflammatory response to non-antigenic stimulus; positive regulation of cytokine production; and relaxation of vascular associated smooth muscle. Located in plasma membrane and presynapse. Is active in Schaffer collateral - CA1 synapse and glutamatergic synapse. Is expressed in several structures, including cardiovascular system; central nervous system; eye; genitourinary system; and gut. Orthologous to human ADORA2B (adenosine A2b receptor).
PHENOTYPE: Homozygous mutation of this gene results in low-grade inflammation, augmentation of proinflammatory cytokines and increased leukocyte adhesion to the vasculature. [provided by MGI curators]
