| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: New Mutants and Linkages: 2. Fur deficient (fd). This recessive mutation occurred in strain DBA/2J in 1966. Homozygotes are recognized prior to weaning by what appears to be a longer than normal hair coat. Actually this juvenile coat is not longer but has less underfur (zigzags) than normal. Homozygous adults have an abnormally sparse coat but all types of hair are present. Fur deficient is located in Chromosome 9. Coupling backcross data with d (N=359) shows 7.5% recombination and repulsion intercross data with d (N=215) shows 9.0%. The combined estimate is 7.97 +/- 1.20%. A 3 point backcross and an intercross using d tk +/+ + fd mice indicates the order is probably d-tk-fd. (Lane, Sweet) |
