abstractText  Full text of MNL contribution: New mutant: Testicular feminization, proposed symbol Tfm. A Blo Ta/++ female, mated to a normal male, produced 10 outwardly female offspring with an expression of Blo and Ta typical of hemizygotes or homozygotes. Two of these proved on dissection to have testes and vasa deferentia but no female organs or accessory male glands. One had a normal chromosome count of 40. It was concluded that the animals were genetically XY males and that this was an example of the syndrome of testicular feminization, already known in humans and cattle. The original female's other offspring were: Blo Ta/++ females 10, +Ta/++ 1, ++/ female 13, Blo Ta/ males 2, ++/ males 15. One Blo Ta/++ daughter was proved to carry Tfm and 5 ++/++ were proved not to. These data indicate that Tfm is X-linked (Lyon).
