abstractText | Failure of homozygotes to orient in a swim test was clearly observed. Homozygotes are distinctly smaller, poorly groomed, mildly kyphotic and slightly ataxic displaying a strong head tilt and jerky gait. Mutants are approximately 2/3 the size of wild type littermates. Anecdotally, some litters seem more affected than others, Nox3<het-5J> homozygotes have a wide range in their phenotype seemingly dependent on mating, litter #, and generation #. Later litters, those born to females that have already had several litters, seem to include mutants with a more severe phenotype than early litters, and mutants from homozygote x homozygote matings seem to have a more severe phenotype than those of heterozygote x heterozygote matings. |
