abstractText  Full text of MNL contribution: M.M. Dickie. New mutations: 1. Recessive spotting. Two animals with large head blazes and large belly spots and diluted bellies were found in a litter of C3H/HeJ in July 1963. Breeding tests indicate that this is a viable recessive mutation but that 9-21 per cent of the heterozygotes have a long thin white spot on the ventrum with no blaze and no dilution. Tests for allelism with piebald, s, lethal spotting, ls, and belted, bt, were negative. Tests with splotch, Sp, and patch Ph, produced the Sp or Ph and + animals, but tests with Wv and Sl produced black-eyed white fertile non-anemic and + animals. Further tests indicate this mutant is not allelic with either Wv or Sl. Other linkage tests are now in progress. Suggested symbol is rs.
