Protein Domain
Type: Family
Description: The sequences featured in this family are similar to a region of the human renin receptor () that bears a putative transmembrane spanning segment []. The renin receptor is involved in intracellular signal transduction by the activation of the ERK1/ERK2 pathway, and it also serves to increase the efficiency of angiotensinogen cleavage by receptor-bound renin, therefore facilitating angiotensin II generation and action on a cell surface []. This family also includes ATPase H(+)-transporting accessory protein 2 (also known asATP6AP2, and renin homologue receptor). ATP6AP2 functions as both a receptor in the planar cell polarity (PCP), as well as being involved in the assembly of the proton-transporting vacuolar (V)-ATPase protein pump [].
