Description: This entry represents interferon-induced protein with tetratricopeptide repeats 1 (IFIT1) and 1B (IFIT1B). IFIT1 expression is strongly induced by interferon (IFN), double-stranded RNA and viruses, and mediates the anti-HPV (human papillomavirus) effect of IFN []. Despite his role as suppressor of viral replication, it has also been found to down-regulate virus-triggered induction of type I IFNs and cellular antiviral responses [], suggesting multiple roles in regulating antiviral responses.
