Meteorin-like (Metrnl) is an adipomyokine induced by exercise and cold exposure. Metrnl induces the expression of genes associated with thermogenesis in brown/beige adipocytes and stimulates anti-inflammatory cytokines []. It is downregulated during adipogenesis []. Metrnl has also roles in neural development, white adipose browning and insulin sensitization [, ].
