Oxidative stress-induced growth inhibitor 1 (also known as OKL38) regulates the differentiation and proliferation of normal cells through the regulation of cell death [, ]. It is a downstream target of p53, and induces apoptosis through localisation to mitochondria and induction of cytochrome c release []. OKL38 regulates mitochondria morphology and functions during apoptosis together with p53 [].
