This entry represents the RNA recognition motif (RRM) of RBM44, a novel germ cell intercellular bridge protein that is localized in the cytoplasm and intercellular bridges from pachytene to secondary spermatocyte stages. RBM44 interacts with itself and testis-expressed gene 14 (TEX14). Unlike TEX14, RBM44 does not function in the formation of stable intercellular bridges. It carries an RNA recognition motif (RRM) that could potentially bind a multitude of RNA sequences in the cytoplasm and help to shuttle them through the intercellular bridge, facilitating their dispersion into the interconnected neighbouring cells [].
