This family consists of organic cation transporters, members of the solute carrier family 22 (SLC22) [], and also includes transporter-like protein SVOP (synaptic vesicle 2-related protein), which has similarity to the SLC22 family []. SVOP may contribute to neuronal development, but its role is not clear and no transport substrate has been confirmed to date [, ].
