This entry represents the adenylyl cyclase-associated protein 1 (also known as CAP1) from vertebrates. It belongs to the CAP family, which is conserved from yeasts to humans. Budding yeast CAP, also known as Srv2, is a multifunctional protein that plays roles in Ras signalling and in actin organisation. Although the Ras signalling function does not extend beyond yeasts, the actin regulation function is conserved in all eukaryotes []. In mammals, CAP1 regulates the actin cytoskeleton, cofilin function, and cell adhesion []. |
