Search our database by keyword

Examples

  • Search this entire website. Enter identifiers, names or keywords for genes, diseases, strains, ontology terms, etc. (e.g. Pax6, Parkinson, ataxia)
  • Use OR to search for either of two terms (e.g. OR mus) or quotation marks to search for phrases (e.g. "dna binding").
  • Boolean search syntax is supported: e.g. Balb* for partial matches or mus AND NOT embryo to exclude a term

Search results 301 to 322 out of 322 for Prdm8

Protein Domain
Type: Family
Description: Class E basic helix-loop-helix protein 22 (Bhlhe22, also known as Bhlhb5) is a neural-specific basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor. It is required for the subtype development of retinal amacrine and bipolar cells in mice [, ]. It is required for the survival of a specific population of inhibitory interneurons that regulate pruritus []. Bhlhb5 and Prdm8 form a repressor complex that directs neural circuit assembly [].
Protein Domain
Type: Domain
Description: This entry represents the PR/SET domain found in PR domain zinc finger protein 8 (PRDM8). PRDM8 is a transcription factor that plays an essential role in the development of the mammalian retina [].The PRDM family members are characterised by the presence of a N-terminal PR (PRDI-BF1 and RIZ1 homology) domain followed by multiple zinc fingers which confer DNA binding activity. PR domains are only distantly related to the classical SET methyltransferase domains []. They are involved in epigenetic regulation of gene expression through their intrinsic histone methyltransferase activity or via interactions with other chromatin modifying enzymes [].
