Protein Coding Gene : Pick1 protein interacting with C kinase 1

Primary Identifier  MGI:894645 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  15 NCBI Gene Number  18693
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables protein kinase C binding activity and signaling receptor binding activity. Involved in receptor clustering. Acts upstream of or within protein targeting. Located in several cellular components, including Golgi apparatus; perinuclear region of cytoplasm; and postsynaptic density. Is expressed in brain; cerebellum Purkinje cell layer; cerebellum molecular layer; cerebral cortex ventricular layer; and cortical plate. Orthologous to human PICK1 (protein interacting with PRKCA 1).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a null allele show impaired synaptic plasticity and lack of long-term depression; males are infertile due to reduced sperm count and impaired sperm motility, and display small testes and seminiferous tubules, malformed acrosomes, globozoospermia, and male germ cell apoptosis.
