Protein Coding Gene : Plagl1 pleiomorphic adenoma gene-like 1

Primary Identifier  MGI:1100874 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  10 NCBI Gene Number  22634
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Predicted to enable DNA-binding transcription activator activity, RNA polymerase II-specific and RNA polymerase II cis-regulatory region sequence-specific DNA binding activity. Acts upstream of or within regulation of gene expression and skeletal muscle cell differentiation. Predicted to be located in Golgi apparatus and nuclear body. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; brain; embryo mesenchyme; heart; and sensory organ. Orthologous to human PLAGL1 (PLAG1 like zinc finger 1).
PHENOTYPE: Homozygous null mice exhibit significantly reduced birth weights. Heterozygous mice with a paternal copy of the null allele show reduced fetal and birth weights, altered ossification, dyspnea and background-dependent neonatal lethality, as well as wrinkled skin and curly tails with 30% penetrance.
