Protein Coding Gene : Gpr68 G protein-coupled receptor 68

Primary Identifier  MGI:2441763 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  12 NCBI Gene Number  238377
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Predicted to enable G protein-coupled receptor activity. Acts upstream of or within cellular response to pH; positive regulation of insulin secretion involved in cellular response to glucose stimulus; and regulation of myeloid leukocyte differentiation. Predicted to be located in plasma membrane. Is expressed in cerebral cortex; early conceptus; primary oocyte; and secondary oocyte. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in amelogenesis imperfecta type 2A6. Orthologous to human GPR68 (G protein-coupled receptor 68).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a null allele exhibit decreased osteoclastogenesis, abnormal pH-sensitive osteoclast survival, and background sensitive alterations in brown adipose tissue, monocytes, and macrophages. Mice homozygous for a different allele exhibit attenuated glucose-stimulated insulin secretion. [provided by MGI curators]
