abstractText | A mouse mutation brachypodism was detected in an inbred strain of mouse (NC) maintained by National Institute of Animal Health (Ministry of Agriculture). An attempt was made in this paper to reveal the mode of inheritance and the pattern of growth of this mutant. 1. From the results of crossing tests, it might be concluded that an autosomal recessive gene (brp, linkage group V) was responsible for the occurrence of the brachypodism. 2. Body weights of brachypod mice (brp/brp) were smaller than those of normal mice (+/brp) from the delivery, and this tendency was remarkable with age. |
