| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: M.C. Green. New mutants: Jagged-tail, jg. A recessive mutant causing a short crooked tail was found in the C3H/HeJ strain in December, 1960. Homozygotes have tails with a nomal tapering tip but usually much shortened and kinked. In the most severely affected individuals other parts of the vertebral column may be abnormal; in the less severely affected it appears nearly normal. The testes are much reduced in size and males are probably sterile. Females have slightly smaller ovaries than normal. They may breed but their litters are few and small. In segregating litters there is usually a deficiency of jgjg at weaning which is greater for males than for females. jg is not allelic with tk, ta, or f. It is linked to Wv with about 20% recombination. |
