Protein Coding Gene : Cpeb3 cytoplasmic polyadenylation element binding protein 3

Primary Identifier  MGI:2443075 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  19 NCBI Gene Number  208922
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables nucleic acid binding activity. Involved in several processes, including long-term memory; positive regulation of long-term synaptic potentiation; and regulation of translation. Located in several cellular components, including apical dendrite; nucleus; and synapse. Is active in glutamatergic synapse. Is expressed in embryo; metanephros; and neocortex. Orthologous to human CPEB3 (cytoplasmic polyadenylation element binding protein 3).
PHENOTYPE: Nullizygous mice show female subfertility with impaired ovarian folliculogenesis and premature ovarian failure. Homozygotes for a null allele show increased anxiety, enhanced contextual conditioning behavior and consolidated spatial memory, hypolocomotion, and abnormal hippocampus pyramidal cells.
