Chromosome | 10 | NCBI Gene Number | 19075 |
Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Enables DNA primase activity. Involved in DNA replication initiation and DNA replication, synthesis of primer. Part of alpha DNA polymerase:primase complex. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; brain; genitourinary system; respiratory system; and sensory organ. Orthologous to human PRIM1 (DNA primase subunit 1). PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele show complete embryonic lethality prior to organogenesis. In vitro, blastocysts hatch from the zona pellucida and form outgrowths with apparent inner cell mass but limited/no trophectoderm or primitive endoderm cells. [provided by MGI curators] |
