Primary Identifier | MGI:96447 | Organism | mouse, laboratory |
Chromosome | 12 | Mgi Type | gene segment |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Enables antigen binding activity. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including immunoglobulin mediated immune response; positive regulation of B cell proliferation; and somatic hypermutation of immunoglobulin genes. Located in external side of plasma membrane. Part of B cell receptor complex. Orthologous to human IGHD (immunoglobulin heavy constant delta). PHENOTYPE: Homozygotes for a null allele show delayed antibody affinity maturation and reduced IgE levels. Homozygotes for another null allele show 30-50% less B cells in spleen and lymph nodes, reduced IgG2b levels, and increased IgA levels. Homozygotes for an ENU-induced allele show shifted IgD expression. [provided by MGI curators] |
