Chromosome | 14 | NCBI Gene Number | 67168 |
Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Predicted to enable lysophosphatidic acid receptor activity. Acts upstream of or within blastocyst hatching. Predicted to be active in plasma membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; brain; genitourinary system; immune system; and integumental system. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in hypotrichosis 8. Orthologous to human LPAR6 (lysophosphatidic acid receptor 6). PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a null allele show dysregulated basal-to-luminal urothelial differentiation, hyperplasia of the luminal cells in the bladder urothelium, and increased susceptibility to BBN-induced bladder cancer. Homozygotes for a different null allele show attenuated hypertensive responses to lysophosphatidic acid and to adrenergic agents and abnormalities in postnatal retinal blood vessel formation.
