Protein Coding Gene : Tnfsf14 tumor necrosis factor (ligand) superfamily, member 14

Primary Identifier  MGI:1355317 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  17 NCBI Gene Number  50930
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0)

Predicted to enable cysteine-type endopeptidase inhibitor activity involved in apoptotic process; cytokine activity; and identical protein binding activity. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including T cell costimulation; positive regulation of T cell chemotaxis; and positive regulation of myoblast fusion. Predicted to be located in plasma membrane. Predicted to be active in extracellular space. Used to study IgA glomerulonephritis. Orthologous to human TNFSF14 (TNF superfamily member 14).
PHENOTYPE: Targeted disruption of this gene leads to selective impairment of CD8+ T cell function. Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit defects in CD8+ T cell-mediated allogenic responses. Mice homozygous for a different knock-out allele show increased resistance to experimentally-induced hepatitis. [provided by MGI curators]
