Chromosome | 2 | NCBI Gene Number | 12672 |
Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Enables G protein-coupled acetylcholine receptor activity. Acts upstream of or within adenylate cyclase-inhibiting G protein-coupled acetylcholine receptor signaling pathway. Located in membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; eye; limb; nervous system; and reproductive system. Orthologous to human CHRM4 (cholinergic receptor muscarinic 4). PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a null allele show decreased body weight, hyperactivity, abnormalities in carbamylcholine-induced bradycardia and gallbladder contractility, and altered CNS synaptic transmission. Mice homozygous for a different null allele show loss of the anti-cataleptic effect of scopolamine. [provided by MGI curators] |
