Primary Identifier | MGI:98874 | Organism | mouse, laboratory |
Chromosome | 4 | NCBI Gene Number | 22166 |
Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Enables protein-disulfide reductase activity. Acts upstream of or within cell redox homeostasis; negative regulation of protein export from nucleus; and negative regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Located in cytosol and nucleus. Is expressed in several structures, including central nervous system; skeleton; and submandibular gland primordium. Orthologous to human TXN (thioredoxin). PHENOTYPE: Homozygotes for a targeted null mutation die soon after implantation. In vitro, mutant embryos do not hatch, inner cell mass cells fail to proliferate, and trophoblasts do not attach to the feeder layer. [provided by MGI curators] |
