Primary Identifier | MGI:106066 | Organism | mouse, laboratory |
Chromosome | 4 | NCBI Gene Number | 19204 |
Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Enables lipopolysaccharide binding activity and lipopolysaccharide immune receptor activity. Acts upstream of or within inflammatory response; inositol trisphosphate biosynthetic process; and response to lipopolysaccharide. Predicted to be located in plasma membrane. Is expressed in blood; early conceptus; and liver. Orthologous to human PTAFR (platelet activating factor receptor). PHENOTYPE: Inactivation of this locus affects the immune response. Homozygotes have a marked reduction in systemic anaphylactic symptoms but are otherwise healthy. Further studies showed delayed elimination of parasites, and resistance to pneumonococcal pneumonia infection. [provided by MGI curators] |
