Protein Coding Gene : Agtrap angiotensin II, type I receptor-associated protein

Primary Identifier  MGI:1339977 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  4 NCBI Gene Number  11610
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0)

Enables angiotensin type II receptor activity. Acts upstream of or within regulation of blood pressure. Located in cell cortex and plasma membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including genitourinary system; ileum; liver; lung; and spleen. Used to study acquired metabolic disease. Orthologous to human AGTRAP (angiotensin II receptor associated protein).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for one null allele exhibit increased mean systemic and systolic blood pressure, hypervolemia, and decreased urine pH. Mice homozygous for a second null allele display normal blood pressure but abnormal adipose and insulin resistance on a high fat diet. [provided by MGI curators]
