Protein Coding Gene : Drd5 dopamine receptor D5

Primary Identifier  MGI:94927 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  5 NCBI Gene Number  13492
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0)

Enables dopamine neurotransmitter receptor activity, coupled via Gs. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including learning; long-term synaptic depression; and regulation of blood pressure. Located in brush border membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; central nervous system; eye; genitourinary system; and hemolymphoid system gland. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and blepharospasm. Orthologous to human DRD5 (dopamine receptor D5).
PHENOTYPE: Homozygous null mice develop hypertension and exhibit elevated blood pressure caused by increased sympathetic tone. Mice homozygous for another knock-out allele exhibit increased methamphetamine-induced ambulatory activity. [provided by MGI curators]
